Chanel's newest fall collection is creating quite the buzzzz...and for good reason! This is the first collection from Chanel's newest global creative makeup and color artist Lucia Pica since she arrived at Chanel in 2014. Pica brings an edgy yet youthful vibe to the house of Chanel, and it is clear from seeing this first collection she is keeping the essence of Chanel at the forefront of what she creates. Pica named her new collection Le Rouge Collection No.1. As you probably guessed from the name, this collection is all about the color red, which is also one out of the five signature code colors for Chanel.
Pica stated in an interview " I am obsessed by the color red. There is strength and emotion, warmth and disruption in the color red." This collection definitely conveys all that Pica wanted plus, the makeup world is loving it! There are so many reasons why this collection is a must have, all of which i will go into detail below. However the top reasons are:
- It works for so many skin-tones, and eye colors, I promise!
- It is highly pigmented and there isn't just one shade of red!
- Some of it is limited edition ...& secret ...there is more new stuff coming in October :)
Below is my in-depth look at the eyeshadow palette, the eyeshadow pots, and the blush. There is more to the collection - lip colors, eyeliners, mascara, as well as the two new nail polish colors So, stick around, and be sure to click on the links to get the products.
This eyeshadow is an unexpected addition for Chanel because first and foremost, it is an all matte palette! WHAT!?! Yes, for those of you who don't know, Chanel is not the brand that does matte, this is one of the first.
Chanel Introduced the Tisse Essentiel palette a couple of months ago, which didn't have nearly as much shimmer as their other quad palettes, but it wasn't all matte. This is the first quad where all 4 shades are truly matte.
This quad has mostly browns, and taupe colors with the unexpected bold red tucked in as well. If you cant tell from the picture the colors in this quad are silk like- and are effortlessly picked up with one swipe!
These two shadows are great additions to the eyeshadow quads. The colors are definitely sisters, not twins, but mother loves them all the same.
The first eyeshadow pot is where Chanel brings in the shimmer! This is a burnt orange - fiery bronze-tint shadow. And when the light hits it, it gives off a beautiful glow. You can use this on the center of the eye towards the inner corners of the eye, but I wouldn't necessarily use it to highlight. Don't forget, you can also line your eye with this amazing color as well!
The second shadow pot is new age drama! It is a matte velvet gel-creme shadow. Amazing right!? It is almost cushion like in the container so you can only imagine what it feels like on your eye! The color is a chocolate brown. You can use this the intensify your eye, especially on the outer corners to give a nice contrast to the bold red, or you can wear it alone.
I saved the best for last because the blush is actually my favorite out of the entire collection! Let me tell you why, as a woman of color, it is often so hard to find a good blush color. They are mostly too light- so they don't show up, to pink or too orange/red, or just all around not suitable for our skin-tone. This blush is the first one that I have found that shows up, and gives an illusion of a "natural" blush color without going too red or too orange. The best part is that it is HIGHLY pigmented, which means you don't need a lot! And not to mention, Chanel blushes have a beautiful scent. This doesn't mean this doesn't work on other skin types, because it absolutely does! Thats just how good this color is! This is an easily blendable brick-red shade and it also buildable, which means it can leave a range of finishes from natural to intense!
